The Global Commission helps to advise on critical situations in transnational projects and on opportunities to support initiatives for peacemaking and justice; this enables us to identify challenges within our partner churches while guiding them in shaping a coherent ecumenical response.
Additionally, the Global Commission will offer an ecumenical forum for addressing national and international problems to our member churches, their agencies and other ecumenical partners. It will also provide a platform for information-sharing and joint advocacy to churches or other like-minded organisations engaged in struggles for justice and peace.
Other notable tasks of the Global Commission include advising on public policy and advocacy, analysis of systemic issues that underlie injustice and social transformation, promoting a peaceful and reconciling role for religion in conflicts, as well as promoting inter-religious dialogue as a framework for community building, faith sharing and understanding. It shall do this with the Rural Christian Chaplains of Africa as its enforcement organ and with support from Open Christian Fund.
